Setting up posters for offset printing is really quite simple. Be sure you
are using an application listed under our general File Setup guidelines listed
here. In addition, read through our General
Guidelines for general information on preparing your files for print.
Important tips for setting up brochure files:
Image size/resolution: A common mistake is to use images
that are not of high enough resolution. Images that work for a postcard may
not work for a poster due to the needed enlargement. Make sure your images
are 300dpi based on the size at which they will be placed into the poster.
Rich Black: If your poster has large solid black
areas then be sure to use a rich black. A rich black makes the black a nice dark
black colour. Black by itself (100% black only) will not print as a rich dense
black. We recommend you use a black made out of CMYK values of 60% Cyan, 60% Magenta,
60% Yellow and 100% Black for those large solid black areas.
